Install guide
How to install your eSIM
It takes about a minute. Scan the QR code we emailed you — or, if this phone is your only device, install it right here from the same phone.
Before you start
Connect to Wi-Fi. Installing an eSIM profile needs internet, and it can't download over the mobile data you're setting up.
Use a carrier-unlocked, eSIM-capable phone (most models from 2018 on). Not sure? Dial *#06# — an EID number means you're good.
Install before you fly, at home on Wi-Fi. Your QR code and activation code are single-use — install once and keep the email.
Install by scanning the QR code
The quickest way if you can show the QR on another screen (a laptop, or a printout). Reading this on the same phone? Jump to the one-phone steps ↓
iPhone
- 1Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- 2Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- 3Point the camera at the QR code in your TealSim email, then tap Continue → Done.
- 4Label the line (e.g. "Travel") and keep your home SIM as the default for calls and texts.
Android
- 1Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs (wording varies by brand).
- 2Tap Add eSIM / Download a SIM instead?, then Next.
- 3Scan the QR code from your TealSim email and confirm the download.
- 4Turn the new eSIM on and pick it for mobile data when you arrive.
One phone only?
You can install from the same phone
You don't need a second device to scan the QR. Open the eSIM email on the phone you're installing on and use whichever of these works for your device — they're listed easiest first.
1. Tap the one-tap install link (easiest)
Open your TealSim email on this iPhone and tap Install eSIM on this iPhone. iOS opens the install sheet straight from the link — tap Allow, then follow the prompts. No scanning, no typing.
2. Press and hold the QR image
In the email, touch and hold the QR code image, then tap Add eSIM. (Or save it to Photos, then in Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM choose Use Photo.)
3. Enter the details manually
Go to Add eSIM → Enter details manually. Copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your email (or your My eSIMs page when signed in) and paste them in. Works on every eSIM phone, including Android.
Android has no one-tap link yet — use Enter details manually above, or scan the QR from a second screen if you have one handy.
After you install
Keep your main number
The eSIM runs alongside your home SIM, so calls and texts stay on your usual number. Set your home SIM as default for calls, the eSIM for data.
Turn on Data Roaming for the travel line
On the TealSim line, switch Data Roaming on — that's how a travel eSIM connects abroad. It only affects that line, so there's no risk to your home plan.
Land connected
Data activates automatically when you arrive and register on a local network. Nothing else to set up — most plans are ready within a couple of minutes.
If something goes wrong
"Unable to add eSIM" / "Cannot activate"
Make sure you're on Wi-Fi and your phone is carrier-unlocked. If the QR was already scanned once, use the manual activation code from your email instead.
No data after you arrive
Toggle Airplane mode off and on, confirm the TealSim line is selected for cellular data, and check Data Roaming is on for that line.
Calls or texts stopped working
You likely set the eSIM as default for everything. Set your home SIM back as the default line for calls; leave the eSIM for data only.
